The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) on Saturday disbursed N2 million to 200 entrepreneurs through its Micro Economic Enterprise Scheme (MEES) in Taraba.

Dr Nasir Argungu, the Director General of the NDE  presented the cash of N10,000 to each of the beneficiaries at a ceremony in Jalingo.

Represented by the Taraba Coordinator of NDE, Alhaji Aderemi  Adebisi,  Argungu commended President Muhammadu Buhari for providing enabling environment for the NDE to lift many out of poverty.

“I want to commend President Buhari  for giving the directorate this ample opportunity to lift many people out of poverty,” he said.

Argungu explained that the directorate had distributed N3 million to 300 entrepreneurs in the state in February.

On his part, Adebisi noted that the main objective of the loan scheme was to inject more funds into  micro businesses because they constituted the foundation of industrial development.

He urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the funds to better their lots.

Alhaji Abba Tukur, the Galadima of Muri, commended the NDE for its relentless efforts to tackle youth unemployment in the state. (NAN)
