Ex-FCMB staff suggests bank employees complicit in fraud

A former staff of First City Monument Bank (FCMB), Pastor Gbenro Ogundipe, has given credence to insinuations that staff of Nigerian banks aid or perpetrate fraudulent activities on customers’ accounts.
Ogundipe, who is an Associate Pastor at The Baptizing Church (TBC), Abuja, gave the indication in a Tuesday tweet.
He explained that he worked briefly with FCMB in the 2000s during which he was required to open a staff savings account.
Ogundipe said that only other staff of the bank knew about the savings account as he never disclosed its existence to anyone else.
However, he said he received a call from a supposed Mr Joseph asking him to update information about the account.
“Just received a call from this number claiming to be Mr Joseph from @MyFCMB asking me to confirm my date of birth.
“Fun fact I worked for FCMB very briefly in the 2000s so I still have my staff savings account.
“No one can know this account save staff.
“Have a great day,” he wrote.
